About Us

We are a passionate bunch of coders, marketers and thought leaders, but we are also amateur gourmet cooks, marathon enthusiasts, and (even) stand-up comedians! At commercetools, our differences are not seen as challenges but rather the fuel of our teamwork. We are bonded by a clear company vision and a well-defined value compass.

By giving our customers and partners the most flexible commerce platform, which is based on a Microservices, API-first, true Cloud and Headless architecture (we call it the MACH architecture*), we are not only helping them maintain their competitive advantage but we are also changing the e-commerce platform market. Today, Fortune Global 500 companies across industries rely on commercetools and the commercetools platform.

Founded in Germany in 2006, our international expansion has reached Europe (Munich, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and Switzerland), the US (Durham, NC), and Asia Pacific (Singapore, Australia). In October 2019, with a $145M investment from global venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners, commercetools is in full gear going forward.

We are firm believers in our core values: Purpose, Trust, and Lifelong Learning. More than ever we need passionate talents who believe in these values and in a better future of e-commerce. Awaiting you is an employer that cares and an accomplished international team full of like-minded and friendly individuals operating from across the globe. Check out our LinkedIn as well as our company blog and tech blog to get to know us better and we look forward to hearing from you!

Our Culture

  • Flexibility - Our people are our biggest assets. Feel free to pick up your little rascals at 3pm or work from home when they are sick. Success at work should not get in the way of happiness outside of it.
  • Inclusion and belonging - How do we champion our differences? By embracing them! From the moment you enter the recruitment process, commercetools commits to giving everyone respect and an equal opportunity.
  • Transparent communication - Be it our “All Hands” or “Ask Me Anything” sessions with our management team, we make sure that our people know what the company is doing, where it is going and how its people are impacted.
  • Training and development - Investment in your own people is always a wise choice. At commercetools you are in good hands: we provide our employees with a learning budget that could be used for books, courses, and conferences along with in-house weekly language courses. Being a frequent sponsor at conferences and events, our employees also benefit from our contribution in various ways.
  • Open feedback - Instead of playing the blame game, we see constructive feedback as an enormous chance for growth. From one-on-one sessions to weekly Kudos, we embrace a growth mindset and give every commercetooler a chance to listen, speak, and to be heard.

Meet our team

"What makes commercetools different is our people are open and generous and care about others as a human being, which is uncommon in the industry. “

- Ed, Customer Success Manager

"One of the things that I enjoy the most at commercetools is the culture of mentoring, knowledge sharing and existing collaboration, even among different stakeholders. The eCommerce industry could look challenging from the outside, but the team makes sure to onboard and give new colleagues all the tools to succeed. “

- Maria, UI/UX Designer

Black Lives Matter

We recognize the tremendous contribution of the Black community – and other minority communities – to our success and that of others. As part of our commitment to our community, to our country, and to our world to fight against racism and the causes and systems that support them, we pledge to:

  • Educate ourselves on the causes and systems that support racist ideologies
  • Work decisively and urgently to dismantle racist policies and systems wherever they exist
  • Speak up and speak out against all forms of racism and exclusion
  • Support Black led movements and organizations and to fund new initiatives within our own organization that support, empower, and elevate the Black community and all minorities

commercetools is made up of individuals from more than 38 countries and believes that this diversity makes us better global citizens and sends a powerful message to our employees, our clients and our partners that we are inclusionary and we are stronger together. We understand that the fight against racism is one that must be fought continually and actively and will continue to strive to do even more.

Company culture

I started with commercetools about a month ago and even in my short time here I have been blown away by the company culture and diversity programs the organization offers. From the interviews all the way through being immersed into the position I have been very impressed with the level of dedication commercetools has put in to provide a safe space for ALL minority groups. To highlight a few key points that are close to my heart: commercetools supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, utilizing black owned businesses and even providing future internship opportunities for people of color in tech is just a small part of how commercetools is doing their part to create a space where these topics/conversations are welcome. As a black woman, it is so important for me to feel as though the company I work with cares enough to see and hear the struggles that so many of my people go through on a daily basis. It can be very intimidating as a black person to walk into a predominately white and or male dominated industry but I love the welcoming attitudes I received in my time here so far. Talk is cheap so I appreciate the work this company is putting in to DO not just talk!
