Application and interview process

The first couple interviews I felt confident after their conclusion. The very first interview wasn't face-to-face, but rather you recorded your answers to prompts within a certain amount of time. Some people dislike this method because they feel that they need the banter of a face-to-face interview. However, I liked this because I was very nervous. I felt like this format gave me time to prepare, and I was able to take time and be calculated with my responses. The next interview was a skype interview, and the last was an interview with the person running the program. I was not as confident with my last interview because the interviewer showed less expression.

The company is very much an old school finance environment, and finance has a lot of rules and regulations. Thus, the company is quite conservative.

Company culture

Fidelity is trying to be more progressive in their communications and in the face of their brand. However, it is hard to make these changes at a rapid pace because the company is so old. Fidelity is struggling to transition from not talking about race to talking about race, immigration, and the Black Lives Matter movement. They are shifting but not fast. Young people could be jaded and consider leaving because of this. They may feel not supported by managers talking about their identity, especially young POC more so than the average associate.

Company culture

Fidelity is transitioning to working agile which means work is done in two-week sprints and there is a reevaluation at the end of the quarter. Depending on the work or the task at hand, the typical work week can feel a lot longer. Some days you might work 9-5, some days 9-7, and even some days 9-2. Things can be great within agile or you can feel like you're scrambling.
